Pros and Cons Arguments For and Against
Looking at pros and cons means examining both the positive and negative facts.
Pros would be the benefits or the facts that show a real benefit to you and your wellbeing that results from your own use of tobacco or cigarettes.
The facts about the many health risks and reasons why smoking is bad for you would be the cons.
Cigarette Smoking Facts - The Cons
When examining smoking from all sides we will first look at the "cons" or the negative facts and arguments "against".
There is probably no other human activity that has been researched as extensively as cigarette smoking. The fact that smoking is bad for you is supported by evidence contained in countless numbers of books, journals, research notes, and reports.
And then there are the effects on the family. Not only is smoking
bad for you, but your influence on your family and children is profound and most often negative.
Second hand smoke affects the health of many children and has been shown to be a risk factor for
sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS). Your behaviour within the family unit will
influence your child's acceptance of the use of cigarettes as a normal behaviour in adult life. They are more likely to grow up to become a smoker themselves if they grwo up with parents who are smokers.
There are so many negative cigarette smoking facts that they cannot be listed on a single page. In fact it takes an entire website (and then some) to showcase all that information!
This part of the website is about presenting the facts about smoking from all sides, so I have scoured
the books, journals, and research reports to present here the benefits of smoking.
This box presents the sum total of all the evidence found to date:
Notice anything? I could not find a single piece of evidence about any benefits.
But just because I could not find it does not mean that there are none.
I want to present the facts about smoking from all sides, so if you have some positive facts to contribute to the site please do so!
If you have some evidence about the positive effects of cigarette smoking share them here.
I have only one rule for your contribution and that is that you must contribute facts NOT fiction.
Contribute Cigarette Smoking Pros
Your contribution must highlight evidence to show how smoking cigarettes is beneficial to human health and well being.
Contributions that emphasize personal choice and preference will not be approved for publication---just the facts!

It is obvious that when they wrote these lyrics, Jerome Kearn and Otto Harbach thought that the benefit of having as cigarette hanging out of your mouth was
so that you could deny you were crying and blame your tears on the irritation of the cigarette smoke. Now how could something that makes your eyes
sting and tear be beneficial for you?
"Now laughing friends deride
Tears I can not hide
Oh, so I smile and say
When a lovely flame dies
Smoke gets in your eyes
Smoke gets in your eyes"
