E Cigarette or 12 Step Program for Nicotine Addiction?
by Victoria Smyth
Try a twelve step program to deal with addiction instead! Response from Bev I have to say I agree with you Victoria. This is one of the main reason why www.smoking-facts-and-fiction does not want to endorse the e-cigarette. However, I do feel that the widespread use of the electronic cigarette will increase tobacco use not decrease it, and that cannot be good for a society overall. I am starting to think that the success rates attributed to the e-cig (if indeed they are true) are because the user does not have to change any of the ritual of the addiction. It is a well known fact that drug use carries with it a lot of ritual that is comforting to the user. This is why methadone users will still inject heroin occasionally. If you have seen the post by Charlie ( Experiences of a Heavy Smoker Switching to E-cigs) he actually admits that it is the process of smoking that is important not the actual effect of the nicotine. The 12 step program you refer to does address all aspects of drug addiction, not just the physical aspect. Thanks for stopping by www.smoking-facts-and fiction.com to give this suggestion. ![]() |
